Extractability
Whether a passage can be lifted into an AI answer and still stand on its own.
Extractability is how easily a passage can be pulled out of your page and reused in an AI answer without breaking. A highly extractable passage names its subject, states one clear idea, and carries no dependency on the paragraph before it. A low-extractability passage is full of pronouns, setup and cross-references that fall apart once removed.
Extractability is what turns good content into cited content. Engines do not quote whole pages; they quote fragments, and they prefer fragments that survive being taken out of context. Two pages can cover the same facts, but the one written in self-contained, extractable units gets cited while the other gets read and skipped.
You raise extractability by repeating subjects, front-loading specifics, keeping sentences single-idea, and adding structured blocks the engine can grab whole.
