Quotable Sentence
A self-contained statement an AI can lift verbatim into an answer and attribute.
A quotable sentence is one that can be lifted out of your page, dropped into an AI answer, and still be true and complete on its own. It names its subject explicitly, contains a specific claim, and depends on no pronouns or context from the sentences around it.
Quotable sentences are the atomic unit of AEO. Engines assemble answers from passages, and the passages they reach for first are the ones that stand alone. 'It improved by 30%' is not quotable; 'AnswerManiac's Q3 study found 166 of 332 B2B challengers were never cited by ChatGPT or Perplexity' is — it carries its own subject, number and source.
Writing for quotability means repeating the subject instead of leaning on 'it' or 'this', front-loading the specific fact, and keeping each key sentence to a single idea.
