AI Brand Mention
Any reference to a brand inside an AI answer, whether or not it is linked.
An AI brand mention is any time a model names your brand inside an answer, with or without a link. It is the lightest form of AI visibility — the engine knows you exist and considers you relevant to the question — but on its own it does not send a click or attribute a specific page.
Mentions matter because they shape the shortlist a buyer walks away with, even when nothing is clickable. A buyer who reads 'tools like X, Y and Z' has just had three vendors chosen for them. Tracking mentions separately from citations and recommendations keeps you honest about what you have actually earned: visibility in the answer versus an attributed source versus a ranked endorsement.
Mentions are driven heavily by how clearly your brand is resolved as an entity and how often third-party sources describe you in the category's plain language. A brand the model cannot confidently identify rarely gets mentioned, however good its own website is.
